Whether you're into wine or real estate, there is no question that Paso Robles has sailed beyond being called up-and-coming to growing into an exceptional wine region with extraordinary draw for wine lovers everywhere. The official Paso Robles AVA is among California’s largest and covers the northern half of San Luis Obispo County.
Wine Enthusiast Magazine's latest article on the area’s vast wine selection is filled with a well-informed selection of must-visit wineries and wine pairing restaurants. The Enthusiasm for Paso Robles wine has turned the Paso Robles wine industry and by default, it’s real estate market into gold. One local wine brand, Daou Vineyards, has recently sold its brand and real estate holdings in the area for an upfront $900 million, plus a $100 million earn-out to the global wine corporation, Treasury Wine Estates.
If you’re planning a wine tasting trip to Paso Robles, keep in mind, most restaurants have a minimal corkage fee if you decide to bring in your own bottle from your tasting experience. In addition, many restaurant menus change seasonally to pair with local wine rollouts adding to the prestige of the Paso Robles AVA.
It has been a joy to watch my hometown become a destination in itself…not only to visit, but once people find us they choose to relocate and plant roots (or vines.) Paso Robles is no longer the town folks just drove through on the way to the beach, now they stop, stay, and enjoy all that Paso Robles has to offer!
